One hot trend to keep up with with this summer is the the midriff corset, bustier, crop top or basically everything that gives you the perfect opportunity to give the world a preview of what you have in store for the Bikini season. While at the SA Fashion Week Pop Up Shop, hosted by Sandton City over the weekend, I was lucky enough to grab the attention of a up and coming fashion label and do a quick little Q&A session with the owner of Parooz Fashion, Roxy Ferreira.
To source a few items of clothing that can be mixed up vigorously with each other or you simple basics is easy, but being able to keep current as well as keeping your customers intrigued in your products is what Parooz Fashions have mastered. Roxy tells me that she travels the world in search of items that would blend in a Parooz fashion closet but stand our from the rest of those bland and boring wardrobes we see so often.
My favourite piece from the entire collection is this 50's inspired bustier, pulled into the 21st century with the Afro-centric embroidered patterns[ top picture in collage]. What made me love this colourful centrepiece even more was when I tuned into my favourite dance competition Americas Best Dance Crew, it was then when I saw 8 FLAVAHZ rocking the bustier in one of their jaw dropping performances. This is what gets me excited about SA fashion is the fact that our retailers are exposing us to the best of international fashion and not leaving us in the shadows of Europe and America.
